The Friern Barnet Youth Club offers a place for young people from the local schools, to come and socialise, chill and have fun with others of a similar age. Over the last year, we have gained many new members, with many of the young people attending on a regular basis.
We offer regular activities within the youth club setting, which include art and crafts, drama, table tennis, table football, pool, football, and boxing training.
We also arrange special Friday night activities, at least once a term. Young people have had the opportunity to attend our Summer BBQ, Boxing fitness class, and Graffiti session.
We often try to end the term with something a little different to usual Friday night. This has included pizza nights, a music/band night and our Christmas party last term.
The youth workers decorated the hall in preparation, and the young people had the opportunity to prepare and cook, most of the party food that was served to them on this night. They had a feast of youth-made: chicken nuggets, chicken burgers, potato wedges, and salsa, chocolate dipped fruit and lemonade, amongst other things. A good party was had by all!
Over the last year, we have also arranged some great trips out for our youth club members. We have been to the cinema, ice-skating, Arts Depot youth theatre production, and a West End Musical, and we have lots more planned for the year ahead!
Friern Barnet Youth Project is also able to offer:
• group outings
• girls’ / boys’ only socials
• one-to-one mentoring sessions
